The Kinks were an English rock group that rose to fame during the original British Invasion, and recorded and performed for over thirty years. They first gained prominence in the mid-1960s with their hit single 'You Really Got Me'. The group's original lineup consisted of lead singer/guitarist Ray Davies, his brother lead guitarist Dave Davies, drummer Mick Avory and bassist Peter Quaife. The band became one of the most influential and prolific groups of the 'British Invasion'.
